Example Key (use this for a reference when adding the examples below)
* The “x” represents the odds
*The “y” represents bonus points from a finish/stoppage.
* “Lock of the Night (L.O.T.N.) is a pick of your choice that has double the earning potential for points. (More details below)
“-” or minus symbol next to your fighter’s name means that they are the favorite and the points worth less.
“+” or a plus symbol next to your fighter’s name means that your fighter is an underdog and the points are worth more.
Selections
Every week you will be given a list of every fight on that week’s card. You will select any 5 fighters from that list that you believe is likely to win.
Your selections must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. the night before the fight takes place. NO EXCEPTIONS
*Changes can be made any time until the deadline.
If you do not have your selection in by the deadline, you will automatically be assigned fight picks. The default auto-selection process will select the top 5 favorites on that week’s card.
*Your “Lock of the Night”, if auto-selected will be the biggest favorite on the card.
Scoring
Vegas odds will be sent out the week of the fight and will be used for the calculations.
ALL ODDS MUST BE CALCULATED IN DECIMAL FORM.
10 will be the base. If there’s a fight on the card that has “EVEN ODDS”, then 10 is the most/least possible amount that could be earned (excluding bonuses).
The “y” in this example equals zero y = 0
+205 and -205 are example odds for fighter used to explain calculations. 205 is in place of “x” for this example.
The default formula to calculate points is …
Underdog or “+” (10 • x) + 10 + y = ?
Favorite or “-” 10 – (10 • x) + y = ?
This is an example with numbers inserted in the x and y positions
+205 odds will determine the number of points that can be won. The formula used for this example will be:
(10 • 0.205) + 10 + 0 = 12.5
-205 odds will require the formula to be rearranged. The formula used for this example will be:
10 – (10 • 0.205) + 0 = 7.5
If a fighter that you selected loses, you gain nothing.
Rankings
Of the 5 fighters that you select, you must rank them from 1-5. This will be the roster/starter system. It allows you to be in control of who will have the highest earning potential.
Your number 1 slot would likely be the one that you’re most confident in, while your number 5 slot (even though it’s one of your picks to win) would be the fight that you’re least confident in from your choices.
The 1-5 ranking system dictates earning potential for your selections. The higher the ranking, the higher the potential amount of earnings will be. The percentage of the points you can receive will depend on your placement of a fighter.
The range of possible earnings goes from 20% – 100% of your possible points.
The example above has 12.05 as your points earned amount …. (10 • 0.205) = 2.05 and then you add ten “the base” 10 + 2.05 = 12.05. In the example given above this would be the potential MAXIMUM amount earned based on your fight being slotted in the number one position …
- 12.05 – 0% = 12.05 (You earned 100% of the possible points)
- 12.05 – 20% = 9.64
- 12.05 – 40% = 7.23
- 12.05 – 60% = 4.82
- 12.05 – 80% = 2.41 (You only earned 20 percent of the possible point available because this was your lowest ranked selection.)
*Points that you earn or lose are based on the ranking system. BONUS STOPPAGE POINTS DO NOT COUNT TOWARD DOUBLE EARNINGS.
“Lock of the Night” & Finish/Stoppage Bonus
L.O.T.N.
Your “Lock of the Night” can be any fight that you want. The “Lock of the Night” has the potential of earning you double the number of possible points … or losing it for you. You will lose double the points if your “Lock of the Night” loses.
For example, if your fighter earned 12.05 points you would double that amount.
12.05 • 2 = 24.1
*For the L.O.T.N. selection the only points that are eligible for “double status” are the ones that are earned or lost based on the ranking system.
Finish/Stoppage Bonus
FINISH/STOPPAGE means (DQ, Submission, TKO and KO)
If a finish/stoppage occurs with a fighter that you selected, dependent on the outcome you can either earn or lose points. Rather than adding bonus points to your total if a fighter that you chose won … If a fighter that you chose lost you would subtract … -5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
You lose points if a fighter that you chose gets finished.
-If it’s a five-round fight and your fighter obtains a first-round stoppage, y = +5 points.
-If it was a three-round fight and your fighter finishes the fight in the third round y = +1 point.
-If your fighter wins, but not by stoppage y = +0 points.
-The longer a fight lasts, there will be fewer bonus points you could potentially earn.
THERE ARE ONLY TWO WAYS TO LOSE POINTS … IF A FIGHTER THAT YOU SELECTED GETS STOPPED OR IF YOUR L.O.T.N. LOSES
*ANY FIGHT THAT IS RULED A “DRAW” WILL EARN YOU HALF OF THE POSSIBLE POINTS.
*Points that you earn or lose are based on the ranking system. BONUS STOPPAGE POINTS DO NOT COUNT TOWARD DOUBLE EARNINGS.
Standings
Scores will be calculated and posted on a blog by 11:59 p.m. Monday following an event.
Prize
TBD: This will be based on the number of people participating
Important Information
IF FOR ANY REASON A FIGHTER THAT YOU HAVE SELECTED IS UNABLE TO FIGHT YOU CAN LIST AN ALTERNATE FIGHTER THAT WILL BE YOUR ALTERNATE.
IF YOU DO NOT LIST AN ALTERNATE FIGHTER AND A FIGHTER THAT YOU HAVE SELECTED IS UNABLE TO PERFORM YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE ISSUED AN ALTERNATE. THE ALTERNATE WILL BE A FIGHTER THAT YOU HAVE NOT SELECTED (OR IS NOT FIGHTING AGAINST SOMEONE THAT YOU HAVE SELECTED) THAT STATISTICALLY HAS THE BEST ODDS OF WINNING.
THE SAME GOES FOR THE LOTN. IF FOR ANY REASON YOUR LOTN WAS UNABLE TO COMPETE OR IF THE MATCH WAS RULED A NO CONTEST, YOUR ABLE TO INDICATE WHO YOU’D LIKE YOUR ALTERNATE CHOICE FOR LOTN TO BE. IF YOU DO NOT SELECT AN ALTERNATE LOTN, YOU WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY ASSIGNED ONE. THE FIGHTER AUTO-SELECTED AS YOUR ALTERNATE LOTN WILL BE CHOSEN FROM REMAINING 5 OF THE GROUP OF FIGHTERS THAT YOU SELECTED. THE ONE WHO STATICALLY HAS THE BEST ODDS OF WINNING THEIR MATCHUP WILL BE YOUR AUTO-SELECT ALTERNATE LOTN.
